Shit I actually cannot believe the date right now. I mean I’ve accepted that the year was flying by but I’ve genuinely sort of lost myself these past few weeks, and it’s only now we slowly creep into the last part of September (and since I’ve started seeing the Christmas chocolates in the shops) that I’ve realised I’ve not really touched my blog for about a month!
Usually I’ll blame my laziness, potential procrastination or even just being too busy, but the end of August and whole of September this year has been a busy little whirlwind, and there have been a few things going on that are pretty important and have literally been at the forefront of my mind.
I finally went to see the Lion King at the theatre
Seriously, my mind is still blown from this. The Lion King is my all-time favourite Disney movie, it always has been and probably always will be, but for as long as it’s been in the theatre I’ve never gone to see it. I usually don’t ask for anything for my birthday, as I like it nice, quiet and chilled but this year my dad wanted to get me something memorable, and the first thing that came to mind was going to the theatre.
My parent’s 25th anniversary
I’m not a hopeless romantic but I love it when my parents’ anniversary comes around, and this year was their Silver anniversary and I went all out with scrambled eggs and pancakes, strawberries in melted chocolate, homemade chocolate cake with a galaxy ganache, prosecco, bucks fizz, silver balloons and banners. None of which they were expecting.
The afternoon was spent shopping, primarily in Links of London, so they could buy each other something silver to mark the occasion and the evening in one of the nicest Turkish restaurants I think I’ve ever been to. It was so nice in fact, and more importantly I was so hungry that I never even took any photos of my food – blogger problems!
Vanessa’s 25th birthday
Vanessa is my oldest friend and my closest. This year on her birthday she decided to go to dinner at Ask Italian, where my meal was delish! But the weekend before we had a trip to Gunwharf Quarys, in Portsmouth, with her sister and cousin where I got a cute white Michael Kors purse.
I went to Brighton for some R&R and literally switched off
Vanessa and I was having a chat and literally booked this trip so spontaneously with the intention of going to have a good time and forget about life. Okay, so the weather wasn’t that great and there were moments when we were literally just being bothered non-stop by people we really didn’t want to talk to, but we had so much fun. So much that I completely forgot to actually take a lot of photos even though I brought my camera, and social media was a myth.
I’m helping out behind the scenes with the Thirty Plus Awards
I’m loving helping out with this blogger collective, it’s full of people who are so encouraging and supportive, and you don’t actually need to be 30< to join. This is something that I’ve never done before and so it’s something that I’ve been throwing pretty much all of my attention into (hence my little, and frequent, breaks from social media and going completely AWOL from blogging).
Thinking about the future
God knows how this usually sends me into a meltdown and in general I think I’m going through a quarter-life crisis and have only just realised. I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t think there really is a job out there that I know I really want to do, it’s more bits of different jobs combined, and for this reason I’ve started a little project that I’m hoping will come into fruition for 2018.
As for right now I’ve got my head back in the game, in so many ways and I can’t wait to see how it all plays out. Fingers crossed!
