LUNCH AT MY OLD DUTCH, HOLBORN

In the two years that I’ve known Georgina, we’ve tried to make an active effort to try different places when we meet up or want to go out for lunch. Last Wednesday, we decided to meet up at 12:30 to finally go to My Old Dutch in Holborn, which if you know us is seriously early for lunch, but as their are usually queues we thought the earlier we get the the better.

The interior

I’m not sure if they ever change the decor, but the inside was so brightly coloured and felt very much like spring / summer. August this year has been absolutely pitiful and, after a wet few days, the orange interior it was a much-needed change.

So much choice!

I’m a lover of all things sweet, and I’ll usually stick with something consisting of my favourites – involving chocolate and strawberries – but every now and then I really do fancy something savoury. Luckily I didn’t have to choose between them as Georgina felt the same way and we had already decided to share a savoury and a sweet pancake so we got the best of both!

As I’ve never been before I was completely overwhelmed with the amount to choose from; I had expected a lot of options but there was more than I had initially thought. In fact, the easiest part was deciding to go with gluten-free pancake mix; I have mild gluten / dairy intolerances and seeing I was not passing on having ice cream with the sweet pancake, it was best not to push it on the gluten side.

The cost

In the end we decided to go with:

1x My Old Dutch savoury pancake (smoked bacon, chicken, sweet pepper, sweetcorn and cheese and mushrooms), but without the mushrooms – £9.95

1x Nutella pancake, served with ice cream – £7.25 with added strawberries – £8.10

1x Extra pot of Nutella, because one pot was just not enough – 95p

Which meant that, split between two people, the total bill was £9.50 each before service charge was added.Molten Nutella

If you’re going to be floating around Central London and fancy taking a trip to My Old Dutch it’s only a 10 minute walk from Tottenham Court Road, and less than five from Holborn station. Don’t forget to book a table in advance if you can and want to avoid waiting, as it gets busy towards the late afternoon / early evening.

My Old Dutch is open from 11am everyday.

Address: 131-132 High Holborn, Holborn, London, WC1V 6PS
